The Montpelier Foundation, in partnership with Montpelier Alive, has raised more than $2 million to help Montpelier businesses recover from the devastating floods of July 11, 2023.
As businesses reopen and our downtown returns to life, the Montpelier Foundation will help fund recovery efforts with an emphasis on resiliency and long-term investments, including support of the work of the Montpelier Commission for Recovery and Resilience.

Who are we?
The mission of the Montpelier Foundation is to enhance our community’s ability to make valuable capital investments to improve the quality of life for local residents and visitors.
We fund "brick and mortar" projects that will have a lasting impact in Montpelier and might not otherwise be funded with limited city resources. The time has come for a more creative and community-based source of revenue.
Historically, Montpelier has benefited from the donations of a few notable families such as the Hubbards, Kelloggs, Heatons, Smilies, and others. Using the Foundation, individuals and corporations are able to pool their resources and suppport important new projects that bolster the vitality of our community.
What projects do we support?
The Montpelier Foundation supports projects that provide long-term public benefits in Montpelier.
Funds can be used for the design, construction or acquisition of educational, recreational, transportation, public safety, utility, conservation and preservation, and cultural improvements having a useful life of at least 20 years.
We place a priority on projects where our funds can make a difference in further completing or finishing a project.
The Montpelier Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Our EIN is 83-2812482. All contributions are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. No goods or services will be provided in exchange for the contribution.
